7 Days to 3 Months to 30 Years

The countdown to the countdown starts today. In 7 days, it will be 3 months until I turn 30. I decided a couple of months ago that I would start my 30s in really good shape. Knowing that I'd have a baby in August, I decided to wait until 3 months before turning 30 to start the training. That's a week from today. And I'm doing it - no backing down. I've thought about chronicling my journey from 20-hood to 30-dom, and from slob to machine, but I barely have time to make the journey, much less document or dramatize it.

In honor of this, and to get me and all of you in the mood for the coming months, watch this scene from Rocky II. I love it. Notice how, toward the end, Rocky goes from enjoying all of the kids running behind him, to being absolutely terrified...

A Milestone & More Pics...

This one is a big deal...Sam slept in his "big boy" bed for the first time last night. He's taken a couple of naps in it, but this was our first try at getting him to sleep all night in it. And he did great! This morning, he woke up and just sat there talking. We're really proud of Sam for being such a fun kid. He could have gotten upset about having to share us with his baby brother, but he's been nothing but happy and really funny.

Now here are some pictures...

3 Years

I can't think of a post or a song or an analogy or anything else to illustrate what I'm trying to say and it's been driving me crazy.

In short, I have the best wife. So there you go. Today is our anniversary. I wish all of you people reading my blog knew her - especially my old friends from school. She's the best. If we're like one person, she's Superman and I'm Clark Kent.

A New Baby, and More Pictures

My sister gave birth to her third child this morning. His name is Robert Lee Richardson, but we call him Bo. He's really cute. Two cousins, less than two weeks apart, and both named Robert. I think that's really cool.

Now, here are some more pictures of Jack...

And here's Sam, planning his escape...

Dr. Sam

Today, Cousin Sam (Dr. Sam, to you) turns 30. Drop him a line and wish him a happy birthday. Maybe I'm being overly sentimental because I'm tired, but he's just growing up so darn fast. It seems like just yesterday that he was cruising Judge Ely in that black Mitsubishi pickup kart, listening to Primus, and now he's a doctor.

Sam, this one's for you...

Meanwhile...

Sam was dancing pretty hard to this song this morning...

I guess, now that he's a big brother, Sam is trying to be even cooler. He agreed to pose for a brief photo shoot...

And here are a couple of other pics...

Our New Baby

On Friday, at 4:30p.m., Robert Jack was born. Nic and Jack both did great and it was an amazing day. He weighed in at 7lbs. 7oz. and has been eating great. Sam seems to be cool with having baby Jack around. When we first brought him in to see Jack, he just looked at him and said, "Who dat?" Then he leaned in and kissed him. Jack looks a lot like Sam did when he was born, but there are plenty of features that are all his own. He's a handsome boy. Here are just a few of the hundreds of pictures we've taken so far..

Not yet, But Soon...

No baby yet. I mean, there's definitely a baby, but it hasn't left the womb yet. The good news is, he will be born this week, for sure. We have an appointment for Nic to be induced Friday morning. He may come before then, but hopefully not too much later.

I can't wait. It's hard not hugging and holding - or even seeing - one of my sons. I'm very excited. Nic is doing great - she's a real trooper.

In the meantime, enjoy the new music feature at the top of the blog. I promise to change songs at least daily.
