Meet Sam

The other day, Sam woke up from his nap and walked in the room right when a Mountain Dew commercial came on. It showed these guys playing that hand slaps game, and then a guy burped. Sam thought it was the funniest thing ever. We recorded the commercial and then played it for him when my dad came over.

For those who haven't met him, see Sam in living color...

Unsolved Mystery

I don't know why or how, but around 4:00pm every day, the entire office begins to stink. Words fail me...when I say stink, I mean the entire 15 story building smells like a dirty diaper that someone left inside a 3 year old monkey carcass, in southern Texas. And trust me, that dude reeked long before he climbed his last tree.

Without fail, I'll be working and suddenly over-taken by the odor. The first few times this happened, someone was in my office. The smell is so bad that, even though I know it didn't come from whoever was in my office at the time, I still look at them differently. Like when you remember the song that was on the radio when you heard some terrible news. Association.

I talked to the management office and they flippantly chalked it up to a nasty pipe that leaked too close to the main air conditioning vent. Likely. One of my theories is that the deli on the 1st floor is up to no good. This is the deli that keeps the tuna fish in an open Country Crock container all day, probably for weeks at a time. Needless to say, I don't eat there.

All I know is that something has to be done. I think our monthly rent should be reduced. It smells like someone shoved chunks of sewage up my nose with their feet, just after running a marathon. In southern Texas.

Father's Day

We all had a really good time yesterday. I love being a husband and dad, and don't need a Father's Day because my family gives me undue attention and affection every day of the year.

Here are some pictures from yesterday...

Sam and I started the day by watching Barney

Sam and his Uncle Rob

Sam's cute cousin, Charly

My dad with some of his kids and some of his grandkids

Take Your Kid To Work Day

Sam got to spend an hour up here at the office today. We all had a good time with him. The new shoes his Poppy gave him were a big hit, too.

Hawaiian Falls Pictures

This week is VBS and every year we all go to Hawaiian Falls on Wednesday Night. Here are some pictures of it. Sam had a blast and is old enough to do a ton more than he could last year. I had a blast, too. Enjoy this online slideshow...

Bruce, the fun-loving moron

I go on and on about Sam, so I thought it would be nice to spend a little time focusing on Sam's best friend. His true soulmate...Bruce. If you've been to our house, you know how well these two play together (and fight together). Sam says "Bwoocie" with more excitement and sheer affection than he will ever display saying "Momma" or "Dadda." If he's crying, all we have to do is say "Where's Brucie? You wanna see Brucie?" and he'll start laughing and screaming "Bwoocie!! Bwoocie!!" I'm serious - he loves that dog.

To give you a small taste of what it's like to live with a yorkie, enjoy this one-minute video. It's one of many random video blogs about two yorkies, which may not sound interesting to you, but who knows. It's so freaky how all yorkies look almost the same and act exactly the same. EXACTLY the same.

Also, for those of you who haven't met my wife yet, she's the narrator.

Okay, no, she's not. But it would be hilarious if that's what she sounded like. Enjoy.

New Podcast Episodes Available

Episodes 5 & 6 are now available for download from the website or iTunes.

These episodes are pretty funny and, I think, worth your time. Remember, if you don't use iTunes, you can still get the episodes by going to the website, clicking on "Download the MP3" from the bottom right corner, then right-clicking on "Download the MP3" for each episode. they are only 25-30 minutes a piece and fun to listen to while you're at work.

Episodes 5 & 6 are about restaurants and we even had a guest who used to be a manager at PeiWei. Comments about the podcast have been really positive, so I hope you'll take the time to download some of the episodes. It's easy!

Let me know what you think!

"These guys are FUNNY with a healthy helping of practical manners for the jeans and t-shirt crowd. A 'Must Listen!'"

A NEW CAR!!!

That's right - I got a new car. Since our second child is on his way this summer, it was high time I got a vehicle that would allow for a carseat or two. So no more pickup, even though I love the truck I've had more than anything else I've driven. Someday, I'll have a truck again - one with 4 doors. For now, I'm happy with the new car I got this weekend. Let me tell you a little about it...

As many of you know, my grandmother passed away a couple of months ago. Shortly before, she signed the title of her car over to my aunt. Well, after weeks of negotiations, I was finally able to buy that car from my aunt. We did all of the paperwork Friday and I got it Saturday, spending the rest of the day washing and cleaning it up. I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe!! This baby is fully-loaded! Below are some pictures for your enjoyment...

Oh, wait...Replace Chevrolet Tahoe with Toyota Camry, and replace 2007 with 1996. My bad.

S Thom / P Thomp

Here are a couple of pictures of Sam and his friend Preston. We went over and the boys played in the Elmo Sprinkler. We really enjoy having Kevin, Sarah, Preston, & Lincoln so close to us. If you had told me 7 years ago that my son would be friends with Mr. ACU Jr. - I'd probably laugh and say you were crazy. Then I'd get mad because by asking me that, you would also be telling me that I didn't get Mr. ACU.
...Darn you, KT.
